Alpha Aviation, Alaska Helicopter Tours
Anchorage, AlaskaStaff Accountant — Controller Track
About the role
About Us
Alpha Aviation LLC and Alaska Helicopter Tours LLC are headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. Alpha Aviation operates a helicopter fleet (Robinson R-44 and R-66, Airbus A-Star) for charter and utility work across Alaska. Alaska Helicopter Tours operates glacier landings, dog sledding, and glacier adventures from bases in the Knik River Valley and Seward. We are part of a growing multi-entity aviation and tourism group — a small team where the finance work touches everything from flight operations to tourism seasonality, and where your work is visible to ownership every month.
The Role
We are hiring a Staff Accountant reporting directly to the CFO, with a defined growth path to Controller. You will own the day-to-day accounting for multiple operating entities — Alpha Aviation and Alaska Helicopter Tours — in QuickBooks Online: the monthly close, balance-sheet reconciliations, intercompany billing, and the supporting schedules behind executive reporting. The finance team today is the CFO and an HR/Payroll/A/P specialist; you will be the dedicated accountant. As you take ownership of the close, your scope grows into review responsibility, multi-entity consolidation, and audit and tax support on the way to the Controller seat.
What You'll Do
• Run month-end close for both entities: journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and ownership of the close checklist
• Record daily sales activity and reconcile deferred revenue at month-end
• Prepare and reconcile recurring intercompany transactions
• Reconcile bank and balance-sheet accounts
• Manage accounts receivable: invoicing, aging, and collections follow-up
• Prepare supporting schedules for monthly financial reporting
• Assist with annual audit and tax preparation
• Cross-train as backup on accounts payable and corporate-card processing
What We're Looking For
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience including full-cycle month-end close
• Strong balance-sheet reconciliation discipline and comfort with high journal-entry volume
• QuickBooks Online experience and advanced Excel skills
• Self-directed: able to own a checklist, hit close deadlines, and flag issues before they become problems
Preferred:
• Multi-entity experience, especially intercompany billing and eliminations
• CPA or CMA, or active progress toward either
• Aviation, tourism, construction, or other seasonal or project-based industry exposure
• Familiarity with reservation/booking platforms, Bill.com, or Paychex
Compensation & Benefits
• Compensation dependent on experience.
• 401(k) with employer match
• Participation in employer-sponsored health insurance plan and paid time off
Details & How to Apply
• Full-time, on-site in Anchorage, Alaska
• Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
