Special Education Teacher | Peoria, Arizona

Empower young learners to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment as a Special Education Teacher in a 1st3rd grade self-contained classroom designed for students with Autism and Autism-like characteristics. Located near Peoria, AZ, this contract role offers the opportunity to work with a small class sizestarting with 7 students and potentially expanding to 12, always supported by paraeducators to maintain a 3:1 ratio.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate (AZ SPED)

• Current IVP Fingerprint Card required

• Experience working with elementary students, especially those on the Autism spectrum, preferred

• Knowledge of effective classroom management and individualized instruction

• Strong communication and collaborative skills to engage with staff, students, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized education plans (IEPs) for a caseload of 712 students

• Create a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment tailored to students with Autism

• Coordinate with paraeducators and related service providers to ensure effective instructional support

• Foster social, academic, and behavioral growth through evidence-based interventions and accommodations

• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to promote student success

• Maintain compliance with school and state documentation requirements
